In a chilling discovery, the skeletal remains of five members of a family have been recovered from their residence in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka, South India. Adding to the shock, the family was last seen in July 2019, making this a perplexing and disturbing development.
The police were alerted to the grim incident on Thursday (Dec 28) after local media received information from a resident in the vicinity. Astonishingly, it was revealed that over two months ago, locals had observed signs of a break-in, with the main door damaged and repeated attempts of burglary. However, law enforcement was only notified this week.
Upon reaching the location, the police made a harrowing discovery: four skeletons, two positioned on beds and two on the floor, all within a single room. The fifth skeleton was found in another room, adding a layer of mystery to the unsettling situation.

The word for this week is:
ubiquitous
" yoo-BIK-wuh-tuss"
Ubiquitous is a synonym of widespread and describes things that are actually, or seemingly, seen or encountered everywhere.
Though they were once a status symbol reserved only for those with considerable means, smartphones are now a ubiquitous technology.

A wave of panic swept through a Chennai neighbourhood late Tuesday (Dec 26) as residents grappled with the detection of an ammonia gas leak from an underwater pipeline.
Chaos unfolded in the Ennore area of Periyakuppam as residents hurriedly spilt onto the streets, expressing distress with symptoms like difficulty in breathing, cold sensations in their eyes, and a burning sensation on their faces. Prompt action ensued, with reports indicating that numerous affected residents were swiftly transported to hospitals. In a coordinated response, teams from the police and fire services were deployed to the site, successfully detecting and halting the ammonia gas leak.
"Last night, approximately 3000-4000 people found themselves on the streets. We provided reassurance, explaining that it was an ammonia leak that had been successfully contained. Following this clarification, the panic-like situation was effectively diffused," stated Joint Commissioner of Police, Avadi, Vijayakumar, as reported by The Hindu.
The production head says the leak caused a strong smell and five people felt uneasy and were shifted to a health facility. Click here to watch the video.
